Beijing Olympics In Lego, Impressive Brick Building
The Bird Nest, Beijing Olympic Stadium

I remembered I tried to construct a fire engine using Lego bricks and yep, that’s all I could achieve. However, HKLUG or Hong Kong LEGO User Group has done more than my puny fire engine. They brought the Beijing Olympics into full scale using purely Lego bricks and figures. Using 30 000 bricks and 4500 cutesy figures, the Beijing Stadium (Bird Nest), Water Cube (Swimming Complex), the Sports Village, Equestrianism and Ancient Greek buildings were constructed to the last detail. Of course, you can see the activities that the Lego companions are doing in the venues.

I just look in awe.

Japan, Hello Kitty. China, panda. And when you fuse these two together, you’ll get Hello Panda (the biscuits). Ok, probably lame but recently, Hello Kitty is spotted in a panda costume (Kitty Panda) to signal that the Beijing Summer Olympics 2008 is coming up.

鈥淭he Olympics are coming up. That is what we have in mind,鈥 said Kazuo Tomatsu, a spokesman for Hello Kitty maker Sanrio Co.

We expect Sanrio, the parent company of the famous kitty, to line up a slew of Kitty products for Kitty fans, Olympics fans, kawaii girls and mature office ladies (OL).

Drool. I want a Kitty Panda or OL.
