Drew Ginn & Duncan Free, Men鈥檚 Golden Pair [Rowing]

Drew Ginn and Duncan Free of Australia added another gold to their country in Rowing Men’s Pair with six minutes and 37.44 seconds. David Calder and Scott Frandsen from Canada took silver, Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater from New Zealand had bronze.

Georgeta Andrunache and Viorica Susanu of Romania rowed a gold in Rowing Women’s Pair, beating Wu You and Gao Yulan of China. Yuliya Bichyk and Natallia Helakh of Belarus had bronze.

Olaf Tufte, Men鈥檚 Single Sculls Gold [Rowing]

Olaf Tufte of Norway defended his Olympic title in Men’s Single Sculls (Rowing) with a 6:59.83 on 16th August 2008, the 8th day of the Beijing Olympics, beating Ondrej Synek of the Czech Republic. The bronze went to Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand.

Two New Olympic Venues Ready, Shooting Range And Water Park Debut

Two Olympic facilities, Beijing Shooting Range Hall and the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, have completed. The 8600-capacity shooting range hall will witness the first Olympics gold medal being presented. The other sports venue, the Shunyi water park, will host a number of water competitions such as rowing, marathon swimming, canoeing and kayaking.
