Alexander Grimm of Germany won Kayak K1 Men’s gold in 171.70. Fabien Lefevre of France had silver with 173.30 and Benjamin Boukpeti from Togo took bronze in 176.91.

Michal Martik谩n, Men鈥檚 Slalom Canoe Single Gold, After 12 Years [Canoe/Kayak Slalom]

Michal Martik谩n of Slovakia won gold in Men’s Slalom Canoe Single event on 12th August 2008 at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park at Shunyi district, Beijing, with a total time of 176.65 seconds. This gold medal was the second gold after 12 years when he won the first in 1996. David Florence of Great Britain got silver with 178.61 seconds. Robin Bell of Australia had third with 180.59 seconds.

Two New Olympic Venues Ready, Shooting Range And Water Park Debut

Two Olympic facilities, Beijing Shooting Range Hall and the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, have completed. The 8600-capacity shooting range hall will witness the first Olympics gold medal being presented. The other sports venue, the Shunyi water park, will host a number of water competitions such as rowing, marathon swimming, canoeing and kayaking.
