Maarten van der Weijden of the Netherlands won the gold medal in the last event of Swimming: The Men’s 10km Swimming Marathon. He clocked 1:51:51.6 to beat David Davies of Britain (1:51:53.1) and Thomas Lurz of Germany (1:51:53.6).

Maarten van der Weijden has more common sense than Lance Armstrong when he says it was the chemo and not the power of positive thinking that cured him. I am living testimony to that philosophy as I took a wait and see attitude.
