Liu Xiang Quits
Athletics, News August 18th, 2008
China’s favourite athlete, Liu Xiang, gave up on his first round of Men’s 110m Hurdles due to his leg injury. He limped out of the Bird’s Nest before starting anything.
“It’s just impossible for him to run, but he still doesn’t want to give up,” said Sun Haiping (Liu Xiang’s coach), praising his pupil’s extraordinarily strong mentality and sportsmanship.
Can Liu Xiang continue his Chinese icon status? Will sponsorships leave him?
We shall see.
