Ticketmaster Sells Beijing Olympics 2008 Tickets Online, Hopes To Enter China Market
Business, News March 14th, 2007
Global ticket online seller, Ticketmaster, has teamed up with two firms of China to sell tickets of the Beijing Summer Olympics online. A Chinese website is in the works to sell millions of the Games tickets to the Chinese population. But the main goal of the US based company is to penetrate the Chinese online market which saw various big boys such as eBay and Google thrown in their towels.
The global ticket seller, owned by e-commerce conglomerate IAC, (IACI) won a bid nine months ago to serve as the exclusive supplier of ticketing services to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ticketmaster hopes to use the project to leverage more business in China.
At least this is a huge first step for foreign online companies to ride the Chinese wave.
