Olympic Babies!
News October 23rd, 2007
Planning a child’s birth to coincide with a lucky event or a good horoscope animal is hardly new in China, but this news from Crienglish.com has a new twist:
For many Chinese couples, October is the right season to conceive babies, as they hope to have an “Olympic baby” delivered at 8:08 p.m., on August 8, 2008.
Sounds like a good excuse for some October romance! But some would-be Olympic parents took a more scientific approach.
“Even though I was off-duty, the past [National Day] holiday was never carefree,” complained Tao Lili, a renowned maternity doctor in Guangzhou. She constantly received calls for counseling on in vitro fertilization in this period or on selective births for 2008.
Wonder if these would-be parents are hoping for 8 pound, 8 ounce babies, too.
